In the winter of 2024/2025 I had the amazing opportunity to work with the shoegaze/metal band SOM on their forthcoming record "Let The Light In" out on March 16 2025 on Pelagic Records. I was tasked with creating the visualizers for their songs "Nightmares" and "Chemicals" as well as the album visualizer on Pelagic's YouTube channel as the album would eventually be released. For these video projects, I employed analog video glitch techniques to give each video a distinctive and atmospheric feeling. I wanted to give a sense of nostalgia and otherworldliness at the same time. Much of the footage was taken from stock image/video sites then given the glitch treatment by displaying that footage on a CRT Television and capturing it via DSLR.
From there, I went into After Effects and Premiere to do some additional effects, post production work and finally edit everything into a cohesive product. I've previously done many short-form video projects using these techniques but this was the first time doing it for such an extensive project. I had a lot of fun working on these and it was an amazing learning experience.
