CLIENT WORK: HOLY FAWN - BENEATH A LIGHTLESS STAR (OFFICIAL VISUALIZER)
The music video for Holy Fawn's new single was created almost entirely with analog glitch techniques. For the video, they were wanting to go with an analog horror and liminal space aesthetic. "The Blair Witch Project" was a big influential point as the band had fans send in homemade footage of forests at night. I used quite a bit of my own footage taken from a short hike in San Francisco's Presidio. With the footage gathered, I would connect my laptop to a CRT TV via an HDMI to AV cable and use a custom made glitch device to distort the video signals and capture the footage on screen via a DSLR.
From there I would take the glitched out footage and craft a music video as well as using some digital techniques via Adobe After Effects.
While horror films like "The Blair Witch Project" was one of the main influences behind the creation of the video, I also took inspiration from the survival horror video game SIGNALIS. Other analog glitch artists such as Tachyons+, Rob Sheridan, and Glass Void were also big inspirations to me.
